Welcoming Mr. Marc Evans Knapper and the delegation of the US Embassy to visit and work with the Ministry of Finance of Viet Nam, Minister Ho Duc Phoc would like to thank the US Embassy in Viet Nam for their active support in the financial sector in recent years. The Minister said that the cooperation relationship between Viet Nam and the US has grown more and more after nearly 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations, especially cooperation in the financial field has become more and more effective. This relationship is demonstrated by attracting US businesses to invest in Viet Nam and increasing import and export turnover between the two countries.
In the field of financial cooperation, the Finance Ministry of the two countries have implemented multilateral cooperation between ASEAN - the United States and APEC. The Ministry of Finance highly appreciates the financial initiative for sustainable energy within the framework of cooperation between the two Ministries, a priority of the US in the coming time.

Informing Viet Nam's macroeconomic situation over the past time, Minister Ho Duc Phoc said that in the context of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Viet Nam has received help from the international community, including the United States. In the midst of difficulties, Viet Nam has established a vaccine fund for COVID-19 prevention and control to receive aid from domestic and foreign organizations and individuals, and with the state budget to buy vaccines for people. Along with other measures, Viet Nam has made great efforts to overcome the pandemic and grow. Currently, Viet Nam is implementing a stimulus package to support socio-economic recovery and development.
The Minister affirmed: “The Ministry of Finance of Viet Nam will be a bridge for US businesses to invest effectively in Viet Nam. The US economy is the leading economy in the world, therefore, Viet Nam wishes to continue to cooperate, support and share experiences with the US through investment, import and export, and technological innovation. ..".
The Minister wished that, in the coming time, the United States would provide technical assistance to Viet Nam in the management of e-commerce tax collection; application of new technologies in the field of customs; capacity building in the field of import and export; measures to ensure the healthy development of the stock market, strong integration with the world economy; wind and solar energy development...

Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Marc Evans Knapper highly appreciated Viet Nam's achievements in recent years. The Vietnamese government has succeeded in responding to difficulties during the pandemic as well as in economic recovery to achieve significant growth.
"The United States is proud to play a small part in helping Viet Nam respond to the pandemic through its support for a COVID-19 vaccine." Ambassador Marc Evans Knapper emphasized.
Mr. Marc Evans Knapper also highly appreciated the role of the Ministry of Finance in connecting the two economies of Viet Nam and the United States, especially during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's recent business trip to the United States during his working visit with the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States.
