On the afternoon of March 4th, Deputy Minister of Finance Le Tan Can, welcomed a delegation from the Hungarian Ministry of Finance and the Hungarian State Treasury . The delegation was led by Dr. Richárd Adorján, who is the Deputy Secretary of State. During the visit, Dr. Adorján served as the team manager of the delegation. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance.

The Deputy Minister has expressed his satisfaction that the treasuries of both countries have implemented several practical cooperation activities since 2017. About their 2024 cooperation program, the Deputy Minister has received a report from the leaders of the State Treasury in Vietnam on the delegation’s working program at the State Treasury. The report covers issues related to organizational work, cadre positions, internal control, robotics technology, and artificial intelligence in treasury management. Additionally, the delegation will visit Ho Chi Minh City to observe the actual operations of a provincial Treasury and a treasury district.

Deputy Minister Le Tan Can believes that both parties will exchange and share their organization, functions, tasks, and professional activities. This will enable them to identify mutual concerns and learn from each other. The Deputy Minister expressed support for in-depth cooperation programs in the fields of treasury, budget management, and information technology. He hopes that these programs will continue to be deployed and implemented effectively.

The delegation, in preparation for their business trip to Vietnam, studied the socio-economic development situation in Vietnam and was impressed with the results achieved by the government. During the delegation's field visits in Hanoi over the past few days, this opinion has been further confirmed.

During a recent meeting, Deputy Minister Le Tan Can mentioned that earlier this year, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Hungary to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. This visit was significant as it marked the first visit at the Prime Minister's level since the two countries upgraded their relations to a Comprehensive Partnership in 2018.
Given the long-standing tradition of friendly cooperation between Vietnam and Hungary, the Deputy Minister expressed confidence that the cooperative relationship and sharing of experience in the financial sector will continue to yield positive results. This will further enrich the relationship between the two nations and contribute to its improvement. As a result, the partnership between Vietnam and Hungary is expected to reach new heights.

The Ministries of Finance of Vietnam and Hungary have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on financial cooperation, which will be in effect from 2017 to the present. The focus of cooperation will be on various areas, including financial and economic analysis, macroeconomic forecasting, budget management, expenditure policies, public debt management, and development of the Government bond market. These topics will continue to be the main focus of discussion and collaboration between the two parties in the future.
