Functions and tasks of the National Institute for Finance

1. The National Institute for Finance (hereinafter referred to as the NIF), formerly the Financial Science Institute, was established in 1961. The NIF is an public organization of science and technology under the Ministry of Finance (MOF), in charge of researching and developing financial strategies and policies; studying basic and applied sciences; analysing and forecasting economic and financial issues; organizing and managing scientific and technological research activities in the finance sector; assisting the Finance Minister in researching financial strategies and policies in order to carry out the state management function of the MOF.


2. The NIF has its own legal status, seal and may open accounts at the Vietnam State Treasury and commercial banks for transactions prescribed by laws; being fully funded by the state budget in order to conduct basic scientific research in accordance with regulations.


The NIF is based in Hanoi.
